What? Yes, Nokia has issues a product “advisory” regarding “overheating” issues on 46 million BL-5C batteries manufactured by Matsushita that powers some on its phones.

Are you affected? You may be, the BL-5C is used on over 50 Nokia phone models, from low end 100 handsets to pricey N91 handsets.

How can you check if you’re affected? You can check through this website http://batteryreplacement.nokia.com or call up Nokia’s helpline 30303838 or SMS BT <26 character battery ID> to 5555. You will need to type in or mention the 26-digit battery number written above the country origin.

How can you change your battery? Nokia has started a home delivery service, wherein it will deliver you a new battery at home and take back the defective one. Log on to the above website or call or SMS its helpline for details.
