Do You Like The Current Wordpress Theme?

Wordpress ThemeMy friends like it but I’m looking for some more impressive wordpress theme. I hacked this theme and made it to work like me. Which I really like about this one. But again you got to move ahead with better options.

The one which I’ve in my mind to go for is one from Brian, the Vertigo theme. Looks decent with good color combination. Lets see when I get the time to upload it and hack it to make it work according to me.

The reason I’m thinking to change this theme is that, it doesn’t align well on IE6. Many people here in India still use Internet Explorer and hence don’t see the blog, the way it is meant to. They don’t know the power and ease of FireFox. The reason people use IE is because it comes bundled with the windows operating system, and they kind of don’t see the pleasure of using other browsers. I’m really a big fan of FireFox!

So the question now passes to you my readers, do you like this theme? Or shall I change it and use another theme, please guide me to some good theme, free or premium.

11 Reasons Why My Friends Say I’m an SEO Addict!

Filed Under (SEO Article) by Manish on 22-03-2008

seo addictOne day I was writing an article and one of my friend’s came in to call me to go out with him to play. I told him to wait for a few minutes till I finish my “SEO” work! He was shocked to hear this and without any delay called me an “SEO Addict“. Wow this gave me a new idea of post and when I told him about this he was like. “Ahh! Come on Manish.” So this post is an inspiration from my friends Vikram, Saurabh, Anchal, Susheel, Manu and Dileep.

So without any further ado, here are those top 11 reasons which my friends say supports my addictiveness:

1. Check Rankings: When I come online, first thing I do is check my website’s rankings. Check my seo expert blog and seo company site where it ranks on Google.com.

2. Check Emails: Next thing I do is go directly to check my emails for any new SEO announcements, news, or orders.

3. Check Google Analytics: Next I check Google Analytics to check my blog’s stats.

4. Visit Sphinn: I pay a visit to Sphinn, to check and read the latest popular stories and upcoming stories that are worth a read.

5. Visit Digg: I pay a visit to Digg, to check and read the latest popular stories and Digg friends through a feed reader.

6. Bookmark: I bookmark on del.icio.us or Stumble those stories which I liked over at Sphinn.

7. SEO Blogs: I then visit various SEO blogs that I like and bookmark or Stumble stories over there.

8. Brainstorm an Article Topic: I spend a few hours to think of an article topic. When I get a good topic to write I sit to write it on Notepad.

9. Linkworthy Article Search: The articles which I like, I usually write a Link Love post to show the love for them or include those article within my own articles.

10. Images: I search for pictures or make the pictures to include them in the article.

11. Publish: I publish the article.

…And this way I end up my successful day of writing.

Hmm…so come on and share with me do you hear similar comments?

5 Things I Look For When Adding You On My Digg’s Friend List

Filed Under (Social Networking) by Manish on 09-03-2008

Tagged Under : ,

diggIn a community based website such as Digg, everyone craves their submissions on the front page. Here are 5 very important points I would appraise before adding you on my friend’s list so that adding you may prove contributive to my popularity and help me crack, the front page on Digg.

1. When did you join Digg and for how long you are active?
The first thing I would want to know is that how long you have been on Digg to evince that you are an active Digger and make sure that adding you on my friend’s list would insinuate more Diggs to my submissions.

digg join

2. How active you are on Digg?
While adding any new contact one thing that everyone has in his mind is that how am I going to profit from it? Now that is an obvious question! I would anticipate my contacts to be highly active on Digg so that I could expect higher Diggs from them.

digg active

I would query through your past records and leap through your Diggs and Submissions. Now say if I see that you have made 7 submissions and 50 Diggs in the past 48 hours then I would certainly add you on my list as this would affirm higher Diggs to my submissions.

On the other hand if you have 40 submissions and 40 Diggs it would imply that you are only privy to Digging your own posts! Thus, adding you on my list would not be much consequential. Then why would I want to add you on my list?

3. You have shouts or instant messenger open or not?
The availability of shouts or instant messenger on your account will enable me to send my submissions to you (even though I hardly bother to shout about my submissions). Timeliness are an important consideration in such sites. Let’s say if I post an article today but am not able to send shouts or message you about my submissions to my friends. If they are not very active Diggers my post will not have plenteous Diggs and would lose its popularity and chances to hit the front page.

digg instant messenger

Further I would also scrutinize the kind of stories you share. If you share negative stories and your posts are more often “buried” than “dugg” I would surely not be enthusiastic to add you on my list. You frame a negative impression through your posts and having you on my list I might share the same impact.

4. How many mutual friends do we have?
Mutual friends are the friends who you and the person whose profile you are viewing, are both a friend of.

If Sid is one of my friends on Digg. Now you send me a friend request on Digg, I view your profile and find Sid on your friends list too then I’m likely to add you as a friend.

digg mutual friends

Having mutual friends is an advantage on social networking sites where you need to have a growing network of friends. Larger number of friends procreates aggrandized chances of getting your posts more Diggs. Increased number of Diggs leads to? I bet you know that!

5. A familiar username or avatar!
Suppose you send a friend request to me on Digg and I am familiar with your name (or avatar) from some other social networking site such as, StumbleUpon, del.icio.us, reddit or Sphinn, I would definitely want to add you on my network of friends.

digg familiar username

If your username is familiar to me through some other social media site it would incorporate trust. If yours is a well known name in social networking, firstly it would mean you are an active member and you already have a far-flung network of friends. Adding you on my friends list would ensure augmentation of my network too.

Secondly, if you are active on social networking sites you are a well recognized name and therefore having you in my contacts would build an affinity of people towards me and it would have a positive effect on my image in social media.

Srishti 2008 SEO ContestI just took part in the seo contest organized by Srishti 2008 to see if I could rank for the term cheeni climate, within a week. Well I did and stood #1! The official announcements are still to be made, so you could call this as an un-official announcement what I found on the Google.com. The motive was to rank for the term cheeni climate and I did it fair enough!

What Did We Learn From This SEO Contest?
Well I thought to post a complete article discussing this issue, but for just an outline I could say that Google has now become fairly knowledgeable to see a site and the links pointing to it. I linked to the page http://mpind007.googlepages.com from my this SEO Expert Blog and SEO MegaCorp News Blog. Both these blogs are fairly trusted by Google. So it was quite easy for Google to see the page to be worth the top spot.

What Next?
I’ve also took part in the seocontest2008, to see if I could do well there too. Just keeping my fingers crossed!

Final Words: Wish me luck guys and link to the seocontest2008 entry post from your blogs/sites if you want to see a friend winning. Thanks!

Update - 03/07/2008: The official announcements are out now. You can find the results on the Official Contest Page.

“Searching For Links?” Try TNX.net!

tnx.netDo you find it difficult to search for places to get links? There are possibly 1000s of places where you could get good quality of links, but only if you know where! Everybody know the power of links. Links are the SEO, and an effective link building strategy is needed to outrank your competitors.

I recently came to know about TNX.net, which is turning out to be a great source for links. They have one of the best sources to get links from. A combination of both blog reviews and links on content pages make them a real deal. Contextual links is the single method which could make you outrank your hardest competitors, but only if you know how to deal with it. With the recent Google penalty on paid reviews, people are scared to review any website, and even if they review a site they use a nofollow tag, which doesn’t provide you with the link love desired.

TNX.net provides you with solid in-content links hence provide you contextual links and improved rankings. You could register within two categories, first one for bloggers and second for advertisers. Bloggers could make a healthy sum of money. The main advantage for advertisers is the price of links (it is very reasonable!) and the ability to promote hundreds of keywords with just few clicks. The other advantages are written on the homepage of TNX.net

As a startup they are offering free links. So register now and enjoy the power of top rankings and drive targeted traffic to your site. You could also join their affiliate program which will let you make more money online.

February 2008 Google Toolbar PageRank Update!

Google pagerank updateA good news, my blog is now a PR4! It was stuck on PR3 for a long time. I expected a PR5 but never mind. Many would say PR has nothing to do today! For me it’s a good showoff thing. This was the toolbar update, there was an update in december which just blew the SEO world. It penalized many SEO bloggers for selling paid reviews. There was a good discussions about it everywhere, even I had one cool discussion here.

A PageRank update takes place every three months, but this time it was a little too fast! Lets hope that everyone had a good update.

Well many of my friends say that this was my one month hard work that I did from home when I was at my home. That was the time I got into TopRank’s Big List, one of the accomplishment I highly admire! At the same time I found few good friends from SEO world, like Jeff, Tad, Kalena, Kimberly, Prashant Vikram and social media rock stars like Tal, Muhammad, Maki, Tamar, Shana and Kirsten. Love you all!

I’m competing in two seo contests, cheeni climate and seocontest2008, wish me luck that I win.

How was the update for you? Share it with us, and let us know what you did for this.

SEOcontest2008 - My Second SEO Contest!

SEOcontest2008 - UK Webmaster World SEO ContestThis is the second seo contest I’m taking part after the cheeni climate seo contest. This is supposed to be a bigger contest than the previous one. The target term here is “SEOcontest2008“. We’re supposed to rank for this term until 1st, April 2008. The winner will receive $1000, that’s a big amount, so a bigger competition.

I’m once again using my white hat techniques that has made me reach top spot for the cheeni climate seo contest. This way I’m improving my skills and adding more to my armor.

The thing which is required to do to enter this contest is to link to the contest starters The UK Webmaster World SEO Contest. So now as I’ve linked to them I’ve officially entered the contest. Nice way to grab link juice guys. Well done!

The reason I chose this SEO Expert blog is because, this is one of the oldest blog I’ve. Google favors old domains and they backed with good anchor text links could be a great combination. I’ve tested this before and this would again give us a solid proof.

Till now this post is doing fine. It came right on the 6th page of Google for the contest term seocontest2008. Now, I’m updating this post to see if doing this can help it to gain higher positions. If we rise then we have yet another proof that updating content might just help to rank higher.

Well people keep on saying about these things that updating your article helps. So, lets find out. If it helps or not.

So once again guys, wish me luck and link to this page with the anchor text “seocontest2008“, if you want to see a friend winning this contest. Thanks! :)

Cheeni Climate SEO Contest!

Srishti 2008 SEO contestI’m competing with several other SEOs to rank for the term cheeni climate, an SEO contest organized by Srishti 2008. The motive of this contest is to see who is the coolest SEO on the planet. While I keep myself away from these contests, I’m joining this contest because this is organized by IIT Roorkee one of the prestigious institutions in India and who knows I could be called their for the #1 prize! Keeping my fingers crossed!

The thing these types of seo contests do is let us understand the search engines and their work more. I’ve my own SEO techniques strictly white hat, not even slight grey! This is also one of the reason for joining this contest. The rule says:

  • We strongly discourage link spamming. We have efficient tools to monitor the same and will disqualify those resorting to the same.
  • Website will not use SEO methods which are clearly not approved by Search Engine Guidelines. (Any participant ignoring the Google webmaster guidelines will not qualify for a prize).
  • We encourage white-hat optimization techniques.

This way we could learn what works best and what has become obsolete. These seo contests also helps us to brush up our skills.

So guys wish me luck and help me win this contest by linking to the website Cheeni Climate!

I’m also participating in SEOcontest2008, to see if I can win that one. Just wish me luck guys that I win it and link to the contest page.
